Tihar to respond to terror-accused U.S. national’s plea for ‘American-style diet’

Request made purely on humanitarian considerations and intended to safeguard the health of their client while in judicial custody, counsel for the accused says. The Tihar prison authorities submitted before a Delhi court on Wednesday (July 8, 2026) that they will file a response to a plea by U.S. national Matthew Aaron Van Dyke, an accused in a terror conspiracy case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), seeking permission to receive “American-style diet” while in judicial custody.

“Traders have begun exporting wheat for the ‌first time in four years, as a ⁠bumper harvest and a rally in global prices and ‌freight rates make shipments of the staple ‌competitive for ‌buyers ⁠in Asia and ⁠West Asia,” trade sources told Reuters.
