U.S. military is conducting fresh strikes on Iran

The U.S. military is conducting ⁠fresh strikes on Iran, the U.S. ‌Central Command said on Wednesday (July 8, 2026), ‌hours after ‌President ⁠Donald Trump ⁠declared that an interim agreement to end the war with ‌Iran was “over.” It said the strikes were aimed at ‌degrading Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation ⁠in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Central Command has confirmed the strikes, posting on X: “At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.”

Israel army says troops capture Hezbollah militant

The Israeli military said its troops had seized a Hezbollah militant during an encounter in southern Lebanon a day earlier and transferred him to Israel for questioning.

The militant was captured in the Bint Jbeil area on Tuesday (july 7, 2026), where Israeli troops clashed with Hezbollah fighters.

“The apprehended terrorist is a member of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force ... responsible for carrying out attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians throughout the war,” the military said in a statement, adding that he had been brought to Israel.
