Tihar to respond to terror-accused U.S. national’s plea for ‘American-style diet’

Request made purely on humanitarian considerations and intended to safeguard the health of their client while in judicial custody, counsel for the accused says. The Tihar prison authorities submitted before a Delhi court on Wednesday (July 8, 2026) that they will file a response to a plea by U.S. national Matthew Aaron Van Dyke, an accused in a terror conspiracy case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), seeking permission to receive “American-style diet” while in judicial custody.

Ram temple trust meets amid donation embezzlement allegations

NEW DELHI: Following a high-level meeting in Ayodhya, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust released details of its finances, saying that out of Rs 3,264 crore, Rs 2,370 crore had been spent on temple construction and capital expenditure, while Rs 391 crore from devotees' offerings had been used for operational expenses. It said the remaining funds continue to remain in bank accounts. The trust further revealed that silver articles donated by devotees had been melted into bars.
